Right-hander Geoff Geary, who is on the disabled list with a strained right groin, was pleased with his progress after throwing a bullpen session for the fourth time since he was hurt.

Geary said his 30-pitch workout included all of his pitches, and some were even delivered with a slide step, the stretch position that led to his injury in San Francisco on May 15.

Geary's next test will be Saturday when he throws a simulated game at Miller Park before the Astros play the Brewers.

"Everything is fine," he said. "Yeah, so hitters beware. Everything is fine. It's on pace."

Geary has made so much progress that his main form of discomfort now appears only in the form of the wrap that compresses tightly to protect the groin.

CARDINALS 3, ASTROS 2: The Astros lost because Roy Oswalt needed 25 pitches while giving up a pair of two-out runs in the first inning. Houston mustered only one run off Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse.
