Right-hander Geoff Geary was placed on the disabled list Thursday with biceps tendinitis. His spot on the 25-man roster was taken by right-hander Jeff Fulchino, who was recalled from Class AAA Round Rock for the third time this season.
"I've been sore for about a week, a week and a half now," Geary said. "But for me, I threw with pain last year. And I've thrown with pain most of my career. We've had two guys down (Jose Valverde and Doug Brocail) and guys going up and down. "I figured in my stupidity I could throw through pain. I did it last year. I've done it in my career. I could do it today. I could do it tomorrow. And I just haven't gotten a break."
Geary, who gave up five runs in two-thirds of an inning Wednesday, has struggled all season, although the soreness has only begun this month.
"There's nothing worse than watching everybody frustrated, watching the team being frustrated," said Geary, who is 1-3 with an 8.10 ERA. "You can sacrifice to a point, but once you start sacrificing, you make yourself look like a fool. And it's not helping. It's hurting."
