Astros hitting coach Sean Berry had his cancerous right kidney removed by Dr. Richard Goldfarb on Friday morning at The Methodist Hospital.
"Berry's cancerous right kidney was removed via laparoscope, leaving a two-inch abdominal incision," the Astros announced. "Doctors indicated that there will not be a need for follow-up cancer treatments. Berry, 43, will remain hospitalized for three to four days and could return to his full coaching duties in approximately two weeks.
"The prognosis is pretty good for Sean," Cecil Cooper said.
