ST. LOUIS (AP) - The Houston Astros claimed right-hander Wilton Lopez off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Friday and transferred infielder Aaron Boone to the 60-day disabled list.
Boone had open heart surgery last month to replace a bicuspid aortic valve, and he's uncertain if he'll ever play again.Originally signed by the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent in 2002, Lopez was 6-5 with a 4.13 ERA and 16 saves in 111 relief appearances during three minor league seasons.
The 25-year-old Lopez was assigned to Double-A Corpus Christi.
